Argentmantle was built in the aftermath of the January 2025 Palisades firestorm. The technology existed. The question was whether anyone would build it into the housing stock before the next fire.
The origin
January 2025.
The Palisades fire burned 23,000 acres in 72 hours. It destroyed more than 6,800 structures — the most expensive wildfire in California history. The homes that burned were not poorly built. Most met code. Many had been recently renovated. They burned because the code was written for a different fire environment, and the fire environment changed.
The primary ignition pathway was not direct flame contact. It was ember intrusion through eave gaps and soffit vents — the same pathway that has driven WUI home loss since the 1991 Oakland Hills fire. Thirty-four years of fire science, and the eave was still the weak point.
Argentmantle was founded on a single premise: the technology to close that gap exists. Ceramic-aerogel composites rated to 3,500°F are not experimental — they are used in aerospace, industrial furnace linings, and military applications. The question was whether anyone would engineer them into a deployable eave system and get it into the building code before the next fire season.

Production builders
Chapter 7A compliance is mandatory in WUI zones. Argentmantle turns a compliance requirement into a competitive advantage — a spec line that changes what buyers can get insured and at what cost.
Homeowners rebuilding
The families rebuilding in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena are making a 30-year bet on a fire-prone landscape. Argentmantle is the structural answer to that bet.
Insurers and carriers
Admitted carriers have largely exited the California WUI market. Argentmantle provides the documentation infrastructure that makes WUI homes underwritable again — test reports, compliance matrices, and per-unit installation certificates.
WUI architects
Architects designing in Chapter 7A zones are specifying ignition-resistant assemblies on every project. Argentmantle is the eave system that closes the gap between code compliance and genuine fire defense.
